The Series 227 500 series is a new model developed for the Okayama and Bingo areas and began operation in July 2023 as a DC train by JR West Japan. It primarily serves the San'yo Main Line, Hakubi Line, Uno Line, and Honshi-Bisan Line.While it follows the form of the Series 227 0 series active in the Hiroshima area, it features different detailed specifications such as seat arrangements.
